Alice's Journal - March 2026

Alice's Journal - March 2026
Mar 18, 20262 min read

This month, I've been embracing the power of rest and reconnecting to my true self in Sri Lanka.

My husband and I took a well-deserved break this month to finally recharge after a very busy 2025. We spent nearly three weeks in Sri Lanka, taking in all the beautiful sights, sounds, and smells of the country and reconnecting with ourselves. The power of rest can be transformative, and we've both found that taking the time to reconnect has led to some amazing revelations that will help us move forward in the next chapter of our lives.

This month, I've been…

Loving: Exploring Somewhere New

I completely fell in love with the vibrancy of Sri Lanka this month. The colours, the smells, the noises, the gardens coming into bloom. Everything was so bright and beautiful, and it made me feel so positive about spring. Switching to a new timezone also made it easier for me to embrace earlier, slow mornings. No matter where you are in the world, there's nothing better than waking up to the sound of birdsong.

Leaving: The Need To Rush

My life can be so hectic that I'm often rushing to get everything done in double time, but whilst I was away, I tried to embrace the pace of Buddhism. We were slow and mindful as we wandered around the temples and listened to the guide, focusing on the journey rather than the destination. Ignoring my inner need to rush allowed me to be in the present moment rather than always focusing on the next thing, and it's something I need to continue now I'm back in the UK!

Learning: The Art of Mediation

Meditation is always something I have struggled with. My neurospicey brain always has a million thoughts and ideas running through it, but I read the book In Love With The World by Yongey Minghur Rinpoche while I was away, and in it, he talks about the concept of, rather than trying to clear the mind, focusing on naming what you hear until the noises all blur into white noise. I found the technique really useful, and I actually fell asleep every time I tried it, which I don’t think was his aim, but it's definitely a technique I'll continue to practice.

Leaning On: Balance & Ground

Long-haul flights and a new timezone always throw skin off balance, but as I knew my usual routine would be disrupted, I made sure to pack Balance & Ground in my hand luggage. Of course, all Kyūshi blends are non-comedogenic, but this oil is particularly lightweight and perfect for instantly sinking into the skin on hot and humid beach days. It's great at soothing any inflammation or congestion that might pop up, thanks to the unpredictability of a new country, and it contains one of my favourite ingredients, Blue Tansy, which reduces redness, swelling, and dermatitis flare-ups, which I'm prone to when I can't eat super clean on holiday.
