FAQs
+ How do you say Kyushi?
Kyūshi is a Japanese word meaning to Pause, which formed the inspiration for the brand and our personal love of the Asian culture, in particular the Japanese belief of pausing and giving your action or ritual your full attention. Appreciating each moment in time. We have been advised that the pronunciation is 'Key-You-See'. You will find Japanese Chinese & Korean inspiration throughout the brand, learnt through our own travels, the tools and rituals are deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese culture, our hope is to shine a light with admiration of these ancient techniques as I myself continue to deepen my own understanding.
+ Can anyone use Kyūshi Face Oils?
Yes, we designed the face oils to be used by everyone, anywhere, anytime. Our brand is gender neautral.
+ What does non comedogenic mean?
Our Face Oils and Oil Cleanser are classed as non comedogenic which means they are either a 0 or a 1 on the comedogenic scale. The scale is 0-5. 0 being the least likely to block pores and 5 being extremely likely to block pores. This was an integral part of the formulation process; these oils are designed to be used by anyone at any time of the year in any climate. The oils actually help to regulate your own oil production and can actually help rebalance your skin.
+ How often do I use my new face oil?
We want you to be in charge of your skin but we understand that this could be a new experience for you. We advise using it morning and night on freshly cleansed skin. However it can be used throughout the day for a freshen up or to help with troublesome skin.
+ 3 drops of face oil isn’t enough?
This is only a guideline, you can use 1 drop or a pipette full. Sometimes you may need more and sometimes you may need less. If you have a beard or stubble you may need a little more to work through to the skin. The amount you use is totally up to you.
+ How long will my bottle of face oil last me?
This does depend on how much you use and how often you use it. On average we would say a 30ml bottle will last around 3 months.
+ How do I store my oil?
We recommend storing your oils in a cool dark place, the fridge would be great but we would rather it lived somewhere accessible so it becomes part of your daily routine. As long as it’s cool and out of direct sunlight it should be happy.
+ Why are Kyushi Face Oils not 100% organic?
Unfortunately some of the specifically chosen oils in our blends cannot physically be produced according to organic regulations, we found them too crucial to the blend to forgo them but in this instance we do guarantee that the ingredient is carefully and ethically sourced and is 100% natural. We are a completely transparent brand so you will see the * next to organic ingredients.
+ How do I use the Cleansing Oil
When your Cleanser arrives you may find you have to activate the pump, 20-50 pumps should start to bring the oil up to the surface. Use around 10 pumps, more if you need apply to face, neck and chest. Remove with a warm cleansing cloth. Repeat for a second time. Follow with your favourite Kyushi Oil.
+ How do I know which oil to choose?
With each oil you will find a description on the website with recommended use. If you still need more advice please do get in touch and we will help point you in the right direction. Try the Discovery set.
+ Are the products vegan friendly?
Yes, we do not use any animal derived products or products that have been tested on animals nor do we test our products on animals.
+ Can I use Kyushi Face Oils if I’m pregnant or nursing/breastfeeding?
Kyūshi The Power of Ten is oil free from essential oils and this is the oil we would recommend for pregnant or nursing mothers or anyone with sensitivities to essential oils. This is something to use at your discretion, we would ask that you seek medical advice before using the oils whilst nursing due to the power of essential oils.
+ Are they suitable for children?
The oils have been specifically formulated to be under the legal dermal limits for essential oils. We would recommend the power of ten for children under 5 and diffusing essential oils alongside to receive the benefits that way.
+ Are they cruelty free?
“Kyushi believes that beauty products should be cruelty free. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.
All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.

All of our products use ingredients that are not tested on animals and Kyūshi does not and will not test on animals.
+ Is Kyushi an environmentally aware brand?
Kyūshi tries to make as little impact on our planet as we can. Our products and packaging is sourced mostly in the UK and if not possible then Europe. We try and use recycled products wherever possible, throughout the making of the product and to the packaging. We ask that you recycle everything you can.
Unfortunately the recycling scheme we started just isnt viable for our small business, we tried, and hopefully one day soon we will be able to offer something again soon or a refill option but for now we ask that you mindfully reclycle your bottles & containers.
