Your Autumn Skin Edit
I find this transition within the year one of the most challenging personally, that glowing bronzed summer glow has faded, the heating is back on and keeping that glow takes a little but more work, on the plus side the nights are darker, we have more time where were not sipping cocktails in the summer sun to add in some skin love to our day.
I will say all seasons take their toll on the skin in one way or another, when the big ball of joy in the sky (sun) stops drying our skin out, its replaced with cold harsh winds and central heating. Keep your skin loved and hydrated all year long to keep the protective barrier intact, preventing any damage and inflammation.
First things first, keep your skin hydrated from within
Summer cool refreshing drinks are no longer appealing and if sipping cold water all day isn’t appealing stash up on herbal teas, fill your water flask with hot water & lemon or mint make it as enjoyable as you can so you end up drinking more.
If like me in winter you turn into a bear and want all the hearty stodgy delicious carb laden foods great, just make sure you’re getting loads of veggies in there, leafy greens, cabbage, purple carrots, variety is key try and get as many different vegetables on your plate as you can.
Cleansing is key
As much as you want to try not to rush your cleansing, massaging the product into the skin helps bring blood flow to the surface and helps eliminate toxins that may lead to breakouts. Try and avoid products that are overly stripping even if your skin is experiencing breakouts. I believe in a kill with kindness holistic approach by using a non comedogenic product to repair and support the acid mantle (protective barrier)
Spritz me
Not the Aperol kind this time. Using a hydration mist prior to the application of a face oil can be really beneficial in the product penetrating deep into the skin. A few I recommend and use in my holistic facials are:
Nini Organics Rain & Tata Harper Floral Essence
If adding in this step is too much at the moment ensure you pop on your oil while the skin is still damp post cleansing.
Top Tip
Don’t forget to keep your shower temperature warm not super hot, however tempting it is to turn it up on those early chilly mornings it can be drying on the skin.
External Hydration
The key to keeping the skin looking its best. Stepping outside into the wind and the rain making your way to work can take its toll. My favourite combinations:
Orange & Neroli with a couple of pumps of the Cleansing Oil which also doubles up as a hydration booster! You can do this with any of the facial oils.
If you have the full set (Yay) or the Discovery Set (Yay) try mixing and matching and find out what works for you. Here are some ideas
Chamomile & Helichrysum + The Power of Ten + A couple of pumps of Cleansing Oil to support inflamed skin.
Jasmine, Lavender & Cedarwood face oil + A couple of drops of Cleansing Oil for dry, more mature skin types.
I would love to know your favourites!!
Don’t forget to give your lips some love too, the kyushi lip balm has a beautiful creamy consistency which provides a protective barrier for the lips and also tastes of peppermint!
Top Tip
Add in a great enzyme exfoliator to your weekly routine to keep the skin feeling tip top, and say goodbye to dull winter skin.
