What Facial Oil Is Good For Rosacea?

What Facial Oil Is Good For Rosacea?
Jul 6, 20263 min read

Facial oils can be incredibly soothing, so it's no surprise that many people experiencing rosacea are interested in finding organic blends to reduce flushing. Natural remedies for redness have existed for thousands of years, and some of the most popular products today use some of those very same ingredients.

Facial oils can help naturally reduce redness, but it is important to fully understand a blend before trying it on sensitive, rosacea-prone skin. Our guide explained further.

What Is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a common skin condition that causes redness, bumps under the skin, and visible blood vessels. It can often cause a feeling of itchy or burning skin and most commonly occurs on the cheeks, forehead, or chin.

Some people have rosacea that is triggered by heat, stress, or certain foods, while for others it may be hereditary or a sign of an underlying health issue. Luckily, the right facial oils can help to reduce inflammation and bring skin back to a natural state of equilibrium.

Which Facial Oils Can Help Rosacea?

Argan Oil - This anti-inflammatory oil is naturally rich in Vitamin E, which helps to strengthen the skin barrier and reduce redness and irritation.

Chamomile Oil - A highly potent but gentle anti-inflammatory antioxidant, chamomile is rich in azulene, which helps to calm chronic inflammation and reduce flushing.

Jojoba Oil - This oil is naturally soothing and rich in fatty acids that provide a boost of moisture to dry, inflamed skin. It's also antimicrobial and antifungal.

Rosehip Oil - Renowned for its ability to heal skin, this oil has been used since Egyptian times as a remedy for irritation. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can calm areas of redness.

Which Facial Oils Should You Avoid If You Have Rosacea?

Rosacea can show up differently on different skin types, so we would never suggest an oil be 'avoided' completely. That being said, certain oils are more likely to irritate sensitive, redness-prone skin than others.

Mint oils - The invigorating sensation of a mint oil can feel too intense for skin with rosacea. The cooling sensation actually causes blood vessels to dilate, leading to increased redness.

Citrus oils - Whilst these oils are often used in blends that aim to brighten the skin, they can often be a little potent for those with increased sensitivity and even prolonged redness.

Highly fragrant oils - Skin with rosacea is usually in a heightened state of sensitivity. For this reason, try to avoid anything artificially fragranced, as this will overwhelm the skin.

Tips For Choosing An Organic Face Oil If You Are Prone To Redness

Finding a blend that soothes rosacea can take time, so don't be discouraged when trying something new if you don't see immediate results. Test a facial oil out once or twice a week before incorporating it into your daily skin rituals, building up the amount you use slowly so that your sensitive skin has time to adjust. Look for products that are clearly labeled as suitable for sensitive skin and always check ingredient lists to ensure there are no mint or citrus oils present in high quantities.

All Kyūshi facial oils are free from artificial fragrance and suitable for sensitive skin. For those looking to soothe rosacea, we particularly recommend Repair & Restore and Balance & Ground.
