The Oil Cleansing Method – An Ancient Beauty Ritual from the Easty
If you’re on the oil cleansing train already yay, if not it can be a weird looking train from the outside. Its easier and quicker than you think and the benefits are glorious.
There is one crucial thing when it comes to using an oil cleanser:
You must remove with a cloth, this isn’t a hop into the shower slather your face in foam and rinse kind of vibe. It takes the same amount of time just your kindly cleansing away dirt pollution and makeup rather than disrupting the acid mantle (protective barrier of the skin) leaving your skin feeling and looking healthy.
This ancient beauty ritual actually works to balance the oil production of the skin, which works in turn to calm and heal acne prone skin, balance dry or oily skin and leave the skin moisturised rather than stripped of natural oils.
What are the Benefits?
Deep cleanses clogged pores like blackheads and whiteheads, remove dead skin, pollutants, and makeup
Leaves skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated
Gently cleanses face without drying and irritation.
Natural make-up remover removing the need for a separate product and step.
lift excess sebum, the oily substance produced by glands on your skin
If you think about makeup removers they often include oil because it’s well-suited for lifting oil-free, oil-based, and waterproof formulas off the skin and lashes.
I Have Acne Don’t I Need to Avoid Oil Based Products?
Absolutely not and its one of the reason the whole kyushi range in non comedogenic. If you have acne-prone skin, look for products that say they are noncomedogenic to ensure that they won’t clog your pores. (Kyushi Cleansing Oil you’ll be pleased to know is non comedogenic)
I love this explanation from acne.org
“Fact: Oil dissolves oil. One of the most basic principles of chemistry is that ‘like dissolves like.’ The best way to dissolve a non-polar solvent like sebum/oil, is by using another non-polar solvent similar in composition: Other oils. By using the right oils, you can cleanse your pores of dirt and bacteria naturally, gently and effectively, while replacing the dirty oil with beneficial ones extracted from natural botanicals, vegetables and fruit that heal, protect and nourish your skin. When done properly and consistently, the Oil Cleansing Method can clear the skin from issues like oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, blackheads, whiteheads and other problems caused by mild to moderate acne–while leaving your skin healthy, balanced and properly moisturised.”
Regardless of what cleansing oil you choose, it’s important to buy high-quality oils and cleansers that don’t have any scents or dyes added, even essential oils if you’re using to remove eye makeup. When possible, look for cold-pressed, unrefined, virgin oils that are meant to be used on the skin, rather that food-grade oils, organic if possible.
Will It Help to Keep My Skin Looking Plump and Hydrated?
Whilst I hate the term anti aging, we would all love our skin to look healthy for as long as possible right? Healthy skin generally looks hydrated and alive. Oil cleansing contains natural anti-aging benefits due to the rich presence of antioxidants in plant-based oils. The beneficial oils contained in an oil cleanser will soak right into the skin and offer a natural balanced and beautiful glow.
How Do I Do The Oil Cleansing Method?
Super simple. You need your cleanser your cloth and some warm (not hot) water
Place a small pool of oil in the palm of your hand and work into the face in sweeping/circular movements imagine your helping to dissolve the invisible pollution/daily grime and more visible makeup
Gently remove with a damp cloth using similar circular/sweeping movements.
Repeat.
Follow with your next step i.e toner/serum/face oil/moisturizer
So I think you can tell I love the oil cleansing method some other things I incorporate into my own ritual on my second cleanse I add in a few drops of Jasmine Lavender & Cederwood as I don’t need to go over the eye area twice I really work the skin to move any stagnation out and down my neck into the lymphatic system.
However you decide to cleanse, take a moment to yourself. Pause. Take a few deep breaths and enjoy.
Sending Love,
Alice
