How to Keep a Skin Journal

If you’ve popped into my inbox with a skin condition you just can’t get to the bottom of, along with a specific skincare routine, some reflexology and lots of questions for you to answer i’tve probably suggested keeping a skin journal.

The aim of a skin journal is to detect any patterns forming, knowledge is power. So if you notice when you eat a certain thing, do something, or use something that causes a flare up you can avoid it or at least you know that it could result in a flare up. For example I know if I drink white wine regularly, it can just be a few glasses a week for a few weeks my skin will start to struggle. It doesn’t mean I never have it, I just limit the amount, frequency and try and make sure I keep the rest of my health in check. Make sure i’m eating nutrient dense food, lots of water and a good night sleep just to help my body process it properly in a hope it doesn’t show up on my skin.

If you also notice you suffer from any digestive discomfort, bloating, nausea, changed bathroom habits, even sluggishness at certain times of the day I would also suggest tracking your symptoms. The more information you can gather the more knowledge you have and with that knowledge you can start to take the steps you need to to regain balance within your body and in turn balance your skin.

You can do this on your phone or if you’re anything like me and you love a note book, there are so many beautiful ones on the market. It can be blank and as long as you know what you’re tracking you’re good to go.

Ive created a document you can print out and use if you would like to, or download and fill out on your chosen device. Its got some journal prompts in but feel free to add or take away anything that you think would be helpful for you and your unique body. I would suggest keeping a journal for at least 1 month, the longer you do it for the more information you will gather.

I would love to hear your findings
