Try these 3 things in the morning to feel amazing!

Theres so many morning routines out there, so many involve a 5am get up, really long routines and really don’t set you up for success. Try these 3 things to start your day with a little extra spring in your step.

1.When you wake up before you have opened your eyes, I want you to do 3 things.

Spend a moment checking in with your physical body, starting with the feet working your way up to your head.

List 5 things you are grateful for and enjoy that feeling for a moment allow a smile to appear on your face

If you have a daily mantra already or a visualisation spend a moment bringing your hopes and dreams into the forefront of you mind.

Now Open your eyes take a deep breath, stretch and wiggle around and feel that smile reappear. This can take anything from 1 minute to 15 minutes. Its amazing what a shift of focus and attention can do to raise your vibration & frequency for the day. This will improve your physical, mental & spiritual health.

2. If you can, before you have that amazing glass of hydration when you wake up invest in a tongue scraper and give that tongue a good old clean, a healthy gut begins in the mouth & by beginning your day clearing out the bacteria that has built up over night you are helping set your digestion up for success for the day and coming weeks and months. Then have your giant glass of water.

3. Start your day with an antioxidant rich green tea or white tea if that doesn’t float your boat, a herbal tea of your choosing. Not only amazing for your skin, and if like me you LOVE a biscuit try this recipe from Deliciously Ella: Full of great fat, and really tasty, you can half the sugar too, add in adaptogens and try different flour combinations, next time I’m going to try adding ginger too.

We used to only have biscuits on the weekends, but now we have discovered functional biscuit recipes we are actually starting the day with a nourishing treat for our brains, skin & overall health and it brings me joy! Give it a go.

INGREDIENTS

makes 20 cookies

For the cookies:

100g (½ cup) coconut sugar

100g (⅔ cup) buckwheat flour / (I used Spelt Flour)

100g (¾ cup) ground almonds

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

½ teaspoon baking powder

¼  teaspoon flaky sea salt

75g (2.6 oz) coconut oil, melted and cooled

2 tablespoons smooth almond butter

2 tablespoons oat milk

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

50g (1.7 oz) 70-90% dark chocolate, chopped into chunks

To decorate, optional :

 50g (1.7 oz) 70-90% dark chocolate

Edible dried rose flower petals

METHOD

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C / 160°C fan / 350°F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

Mix together all the ingredients for the cookies in a large bowl until well combined and a smooth dough forms. Scoop the dough using a tablespoon measure, roll into balls, and place onto the parchment-lined baking tray. Gently flatten with your hand as the cookies won’t spread out during baking, so we do this for a nice cookie shape.

Step 3

Bake, until darkened and slightly cracked around the edges, 12-13 minutes. Remove from the oven and set the baking tray on a wire rack to cool.

Step 4

To decorate your cookies, melt the chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat. Alternatively, place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until melted and smooth. Use a spoon to drizzle the chocolate over the cookies and sprinkle with the rose petals while the chocolate is still wet. Allow the chocolate to set before eating.

Enjoy xx
